The training challenge

We wanted to move away from the traditional approach of delivering training via powerpoint slides hosted in the HR Centre and towards a more modern and engaging method. There was also a need for enhanced reporting, a way to enable communication, drive engagement and obtain more value from our security education programme. It was difficult to find an LMS that could do both.

In addition, we also required a custom interface, which needed to be uniquely created for IHS Markit. We wanted it to include custom user flow (initial assessment, dynamic content allocation and final assessment). We also required custom learner dashboards and admin dashboards to be developed for us so that we would be able to track continuous improvement within the portal. With all of these customizations, it was not easy to find an LMS to fit our needs but luckily eFront was able to deliver.

LMS Customizations

A fully customized interface was created for us. We wanted it to include custom user flow with initial assessment, dynamic content allocation and final assessment. We also required custom learner dashboards and admin dashboards so that we would be able to track continuous improvement within the portal.

The image below shows the initial learner screen, where the student is introduced to an assessment first and then prompted to dynamic content depending on the assessment’s performance.

The following is an example of the custom course view that the learners see. We were also able to collect direct feedback for every course by using the course rating feature.

Custom learner dashboards and admin dashboards were also developed, which meant that we were able to create a very personal LMS with tracking indicators of continuous improvement with the help of eFront.

Similarly, on the admin’s dashboard our custom charts showed the average progress of all of our learners, which gave us a quick overview of all the training.

Conclusion

Using the customised eFront portal we were able to drive engagement rates up, educate our colleagues on cyber security threats, change behaviours and build a risk-aware culture. The platform delivers customized security education, risk analytics and business process automation.
