Since 2012, Tandem Learning has been a leader in providing training content and services for insurance intermediaries in Romania. With eFront at the crux of the business, Tandem delivers continuous education that adheres to stringent European Union regulations and helps insurance professionals maintain their licenses year over year.

Today, the company uses eFront to train 5,000 learners annually, enabling Romania’s insurance workforce to maintain their licenses and stay updated on evolving industry requirements.

The training challenge

Operating in a tightly regulated industry, Tandem Learning faced specific challenges when implementing an LMS. European legislation mandates that all insurance intermediaries—including brokers, agents, and bank representatives— must complete at least 15 hours of annual training to retain their licenses. Corina Souvannasouck, Tandem Learning’s Founder and Managing Partner, recognized that a scalable, compliant, and user-friendly LMS was essential to meet this requirement.

As is the case in many industries, traditional, in-person training was costly and logistically complex, requiring employees to take time away from work. It also comes along with challenges that go beyond scheduling, like tracking each learner’s time spent in training—a critical requirement of EU law— as well as evaluating the quality of learning on an individual basis.

Tandem needed a solution that could accurately monitor time-in-training, provide detailed progress tracking and quality of learning, as well as allow learners to take practice exams as frequently as needed to ensure a passing score when it came time for certification.

Why Tandem chose eFront

After evaluating multiple LMS options, Tandem selected eFront for its robust tracking capabilities, seamless data migration, and centralized support structure. Tandem successfully transitioned thousands of records from its previous system into eFront, preserving essential historical data on course completions and test results. This migration enabled Tandem to maintain continuity in learner progress tracking, eliminating the need for a legacy platform.

eFront’s adaptability to European insurance requirements has been key for Tandem. To comply with the mandated 15-hour minimum, Tandem worked directly with the eFront team to enhance its reporting functionality and allow Corina to track time spent per learner, even within her SCORM-based content. This customization allowed Tandem to verify that each learner completed the required hours, regardless of their individual pace.

Moreover, Tandem leverages eFront’s comprehensive reporting tools to analyze learning outcomes and identify areas where learners struggle most. This focus on quality is further supported by detailed reports, which track errors and common difficulties learners face in assessments.

What I really like in eFront is that I can track the quality of learning. I can generate a report that details the most common errors that learners make. This report allows me to identify which topics are the most challenging for learners, and then I know exactly which pieces of training content I need to adjust. As a responsible instructor, I can deliver the relevant qualitative report to each team. I can tell you, this is a feature not many training platforms offer.

The results

With eFront, Tandem Learning has seen significant improvements in training effectiveness and compliance. Over 95% of learners pass their certification exams on the first attempt, a metric Tandem uses as a key indicator of training quality. This high pass rate directly benefits Tandem’s clients, who avoid costly retests and downtime for employees.

Due to the conservative nature of the insurance and banking industries, some of Tandem’s clients initially preferred to have training take place in person, and insisted on sending their employees to their facilities for face to face instruction.

With eFront, we were able to show our clients that not only are they not losing any quality of instruction for their employees by hosting their training online, but that they are also saving money, and their employees’ time.

eFront’s easy-to-navigate interface has also garnered positive feedback from Tandem’s learners, who appreciate the platform’s simplicity and direct approach. Unlike competitor platforms, eFront’s user-friendly design supports efficient learning without unnecessary distractions, aligning perfectly with the serious nature of insurance training.

Additionally, Tandem has found that the platform’s customizable testing functionality supports retention and assessment integrity. For each course, eFront randomly selects test questions from a pool of 500 questions, mirroring the randomized format of official exams and helping learners prepare under realistic conditions. As a result, Tandem’s clients see enhanced learner readiness and confidence.

By choosing eFront, Tandem Learning has successfully adapted to the evolving demands of the insurance industry and the legislative landscape, providing its learners with top-tier training that meets strict compliance standards.

It was my goal and ambition from the very beginning to have the most user-friendly platform, and to create the best possible courses on the market, and eFront has helped me achieve this goal.
